My high school experience was not exactly typical, so why would my high school reunion be any different? We spent the weekend traversing the metroplex, eating delicious food, swimming, sightseeing, and re-living some of the most hilarious and significant moments of our school days. Thanks to Debbie Condra and her video camera, we also got to view presentations given in kindergarten and second grade as well as our sixth grade graduation! Oh my goodness my hair was big!
Obviously, the highlight of any reunion is catching up. Lots of laughter to be had. But one of my favorite and most treasured moments of this reunion was the time of sharing that we were able to have on Sunday morning. Those of us that were there each had a chance to tell of God's goodness in our lives. Each of us has faced a lot of darkness, and doubt. We have seen first and second hand the suffering that this world affords. Even so, every person attested to the fact that through all of that suffering and darkness, God has remained faithful. I walked out of that time feeling amazed and encouraged to hear about how our God has held us all so closely to Him, despite countless opportunities to run from Him. He has blessed us with community, deep friendship, accountability, husbands, wives, kids, and ministries.
Thanks to everyone who made sacrifices to be here. I truly treasure the time we had with each other. Can't wait to do it again in another five or ten years!
diddo :) i really don't have anything to add, but i had to affirm that i agree with all of it! everyone was just the same - only more so, and deeper ... i'm still smiling at how beautiful it was to see who God has grown us into thus far.
